Pre-Elementary Word Problems for the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers

Ex 1. Mary had 6 dogs and Peter had 8 dogs. How many dogs did they have in total?
Soln: 6 plus 8 equals 14.

Ex. 2 John had 12 kittens. Bill had 3 less kittens. How many kittens did they have in total?
Soln: 12-3 plus 12 equals 21.

Ex. 3. How many objects are there if there are 5 groups with 3 objects in each group?
Soln: 5×3 equals 15.

Ex 4. There are 28 objects in 4 groups. How many objects are there in each group?
Soln: 28/4 equals 7.
